First written evidences came from 11th century. Armenian historian Stepanos Orbelyan bring evidence about 700 vikings participating in the battle between Christians and muslim seljouks in 1048 in Armenia. They fighted on side of Christian army (joined Armenian-Georgian army) against seljouks.
